They receive $1,000 to spend in their classrooms, and a beautiful crystal apple to recognize them for their amazing contributions to our schools. Golden Schools Foundation is currently accepting nominations from parents, students, principals or other staff members. Nominations are due April 10. That is today!

Award Criteria & How to Nominate:

Write a one page essay showing how the teacher you wish to nominate demonstrates the following criteria:

  • Innovative and effective teaching methods that demonstrate critical and creative thinking. Give examples of how the teacher uses imagination, innovation, and ingenuity to teach.
  • Commitment to all of their students that goes above and beyond official job requirements. Show how they advocate for the needs of their students.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive school environment. Please illustrate the teacher’s collaboration with peers & ability to lead by influence.

  • Cheryl O'Haire (2012)

These four teachers are not eligible to be nominated again. Please take a few minutes to nominate a teacher today! They will receive a copy of your nomination letter, and it's a wonderful way to let them know how much you appreciate their dedication.

Golden Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Golden has organized a Community Wellness Fair to be held at Golden High School on April 28, 2018 from 9:45am to 3:00pm. The purpose of the Fair is to provide and identify resources for children and teens who are dealing with mental health issues, particularly within their own family, as well as anyone interested in learning more about mental well-being. The Fair is free, open to the public, includes classes, presentations, food, entertainment, games, prizes and other activities designed to attract a broad audience.

Twelve classes designed for both children and parents will be given by mental health professionals on subjects such as anxiety, bullying, substance abuse, and other important topics. The Fair also includes a presentation by JC Jackman and a showing of the Disney film Inside Out. Community members (especially young people) are also encouraged to volunteer for part of the event (there are several options for volunteer shifts and all volunteers receive a special t-shirt).
